It has been marked as the high point of summer – or midsummer – since at least the Neolithic era.Some folk observe the solstice over three days.For three days the sun will appear to stand still, each of the days equally long. The word solstice is derived from the Latin sol ("sun") and sistere ("to stand still"), because at the solstices, the Sun's declination appears to "stand still
